Behind The Scenes

by Aly Hazlewood on September 22, 2011

I realised I haven’t posted many behind the scenes pics lately, so that’s simply what this is…

One of the things I love most about my job is the incredible diversity. Each day is different, bringing new challenges, sometimes stresses, but almost always laughter and creativity.

Working with the incredible Hannah Murray again this year on Top Shop Unique’s LFW show was a real pleasure, not least because I got to see this incredible gold leaf applied to the model’s hair.

Then, one might be trekking off into the forest to shoot some masculine tailoring with a sexy edge…

Or crossing your fingers for good weather and donning wellies for a riverside bridal shoot, marvelling at the miles and miles of silk, tulle and diamonds…

And one of the other aspects I love is having the opportunity to shoot in locations like this, places I’m sure I would never otherwise get to see. Although it does crank up the lifestyle envy from time to time…

Then before you know it, you might be jetting off to Paris to shoot more beautiful bridal scenes in Bonaparte’s ballroom…

Or going further afield to the beaches of L.A and Miami to buff and bronze enviable swimwear bodies…(one often skips lunch when faced with these kind of jobs)..

And when you get back, it could be Royal Wedding inspired shoots on perfect, manicured lawns….

Before a brief sojourn to Ibiza, trying to keep calm as you dodge the endless, unexpected rain storms that ruin your model’s make up and hair…

But when the sun comes out, ah, it’s all worth it…

Other days, you could be making up actors, singers and even pearly Kings and Queens…

Or simply flexing your creative muscles in fashion shoots that range from the sublime to the ridiculous…

And if your really lucky, at the end of a long day, you might even get to muck about on giant inflatable swan, in a millionaire’s private pool. I’m almost embarrassed to call it work.
