As a freelance hair stylist, I can confidently say that I’ve come across many different types of hair and hair products, and I know what works and what doesn’t. But I have to admit I was fairly stumped when a recent brief required that I use all natural products on the model, who suffered allergies to many common chemicals. After a brief moment of panic, I remembered John Masters Organics, a saviour for those who prefer organic products.
I had tried the delectable Honey and Hibiscus shampoo in the past and really loved it and the ethos behind the brand. All the products from the John Masters Organics range contain certified organic ingredients, and anything else that is added must be at least 70% organic. As well as this, they have not been tested on animals, and are completely free from artificial colours and fragrances. So it really is guilt free styling for those who worry about such things.
I opted for the Sweet Orange and Silk Protein Styling Gel, which was perfect for creating a sleek, slicked-back look that held fast, and gave a gorgeous long-lasting sheen to the hair. The gel, which is alcohol free, is clear and light-weight, and has none of the tacky, sticky qualities that you would usually find with regular hair gels. This is down to the use of certified organic aloe vera gel, which gives the hair a softer feel, instead of the hard, varnished look that comes with many other gels. Apart from the high quality of the product, what I loved most about it was the fresh orange scent – which really accentuated how natural the product is.
This range is a great addition to any stylists kit bag, and is well worth £17.00, as a little goes a long way.
