NYC Smooch Proof Lip Stain

Lip stains are a fantastic alternative to lipstick and gloss, and come with none of the complications of the latter – who hasn’t had the awkward moment when your hair gets stuck to your lip as a result of one too many layers of gloopy gloss?

NYC is the latest in a range of companies to release a lip stain, and theirs is one of the better ones that I have tried. The best thing about this product is the marker-like felt tip, which makes application a dream. The precision tip is also great for creating a defined cupid’s bow, and can be used as a long-wearing liner if you still want to apply a lipstick or gloss in the middle.

The stain promises to stay for 16 hours, and while I didn’t have my stopwatch out, I can honestly say this is one long-wearing lippy. It survived dinner, drinks and the intense heat over the weekend, leaving my pout with a natural-looking tint that didn’t budge. I can also testify that it can withstand even the most passionate of ‘smooches’, leaving no mark on my man!

If you prefer a shiny lip, simply add your regular gloss or some lip balm after the tint has dried.

One thing to watch out for – it is a stain so make sure to let it dry for a few seconds before coming in contact with any material.

NYC Smooch Proof Lip Stains come in four shades – Champagne Stain, Berry Long Time, Forever Freesia and Persistent Pink, all of which can be layered on for a more intense colour.

NYC Lipstains cost £3.99, and are available from Superdrug.

Great post Hollie! Def gonna try that out – have never used a lip stain before, always use lipstick and gloss… which as you mention leads to your hair sticking to you lips! xxx

Great review thank you and on a product that’s actually affordable :) like Kellebelle above I haven’t tried a lip stain either so will have to give it a go xx

As Anne says, it’s great to see a new product being released with a low price tag, instead of the sky high prices of products such as the Touche Eclat. Would be nice to see what other tones they have.
