A few days ago I opened a small package from Burberry Beauty with some excitement. I’ve been dying to experience the iconic fashion brand’s foray into beauty for some time now and Burberry very kindly sent me a few products from their Nude collection to test.
The packaging is as you would expect, sleek and gorgeous, very expensive looking, with a hefty weight to them like your grandma’s beauty compact’s used to have. Embossed with the familiar Burberry check, there is something slightly old fashioned about these products that really reminds me of the make up I used to borrow from my mum and aunts, something old-school yet very glamourous about them. Gorgeous products for your dressing table. So here goes…
Sheer Eye Shadow in Taupe Brown £22.50. The blurb states “The innovative formula uses silicones for smooth and flawless application and contains micronised satin smooth pigments to ensure long-lasting colour.”. This looks like it will be quite a dark slate brown shade, however when you apply it it’s more of a sheer wash of colour with a pearlised sheen, very pretty indeed. The texture is silky soft, you can barely feel it on your skin at all and the pigment, though not dense, is buildable and blendable. I used this on a shoot this week and it was very long lasting, with hardly any touch up needed.
Light Glow Blush in Misty Blush £29. Again, this is a very lightweight blush that gives the skin a fresh glow and contains wild rose extract for moisturising benefits. The brush that comes with the compact is great quality and dispenses the right amount of product while blending beautifully. I love this blush, I’m not one for heavy handed cheek colour and this creates a softly contoured look.
The shades I’ve seen for both cheeks and eyes are all very sheer and chic, and reflect the presence of the brand entirely. Think expensive looking, glowing skin and subtle, barely there make up. Gorgeous, and worth the splurge for the packaging alone. I can’t wait to try the sheer foundation and lip colours next.
