Recently, a beautifully wrapped gift box arrived at my door from one of my favourite niche skin care brands, Bodhi, and let me tell you, it brought a welcome boost to an otherwise stressful day.
The last couple of weeks have seen me rushing from one distant shoot location to another, so I haven’t had the chance to try all 3 lovely new products that were so kindly sent, however, I did pack the Neroli Lucé Revitalising Face Oil in my suitcase this week. And I’m very glad I did. I find that hotel rooms are hideously dry or over air-conditioned and I usually wake up looking a good deal older than I do at my own home – a cause for critical over-analysis of my wrinkles in the alarming bathroom magnifying mirrors. Take it from me, as a woman of 40, I have no need to ever see my skin in a magnifying mirror again.
I digress. Last night I massaged a couple of drops of the aforementioned heavenly-scented Neroli oil onto my face and neck, then applied a warm face cloth for 1o minutes before bed. Not only did this infuse my surroundings with the natural fragrance, it relaxed me sufficiently to gently drop off to sleep (rather than sit awake stressing for hours as sleep tends to elude me away from home). Bonus. Vital vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids help revive a lacklustre complexion, increase elasticity, boost resilience and rebalance the skin’s natural hydration system. 15ml is £32 but a little goes a VERY long way, and the great thing about essential oils is that they do not go off, particularly if kept somewhere cool.
The next morning, as hoped, there was far less of the crepe paper effect under my eyes, and my skin stayed very hydrated and smooth all day long in the stuffy studio. If you don’t like the idea of using oil directly on your face, just mix one or two drops into your usual night cream for a boost of goodness. I’ve been using facial oils as part of my daily skin care routine for years now and I credit these with keeping my skin looking much younger than my actual years.
As usual, Bodhi products get a very big thumbs up from me. They use high quality ingredients, no synthetics or chemicals and the philosophy and ethics of the brand are in keeping with my own. If only all skin care brands gave as much thought to the environment as our skin’s needs.
