Weleda’s Wild Rose Smoothing Facial Oil Capsules mainly consist of oil from organically grown Rosa Mosqueta (Musk Rose) seeds growing wild at the foothills of the Andes. It  contains a unique combination of essential fatty acids and anti-oxidising vitamins which help to support the natural hydration and regeneration processes of the skin and once opened, smell wonderful.

Carefully break open the capsule (I say carefully because I managed to squirt the entire contents of one of them up my bedroom wall) and massage in upward circles to preferably damp skin. After a bath at night, I find this to be a very soothing element to my skin care routine, preparing me for sleep. As you massage the oil into your face you do get the sense that you are being immersed in roses (minus the thorny bits and bees of, course) and it absorbs nicely and doesn’t feel greasy.

The German company, Weleda, claim that this oil preserves the skin’s youthful vitality whilst helping to prevent signs of premature ageing. The skin’s renewal process is stimulated, which makes the skin more balanced and smooth, resulting in a natural glow.

At first, the results only seemed to be visible the day after application, but after a couple of weeks of applying it every third night (before bed) I did begin to notice a more permanent change. My skin felt more rested and my pores much less clogged. In fact my usually flushed and ruddy complexion had taken on a much calmer appearance. Which is definitely good. And I found the fragrance to be a mood enhancer.

The only criticism I would make is that I think the dosage could have been slightly larger per capsule. At 0.3 ml this is not quite enough oil to cover my face and neck so I sometimes use two capsules contrary to recommendations. Or I simply mix one capsule in with my usual night cream to make it go further.

As with all Weleda products, they contain no mineral oil derivatives and retail at around £15. They work very well and would be a great monthly supplement to your normal skincare routine.
