E45 is one of the those dependable, seasoned brands (now 50 years old) that I think most people associate with very dry skin conditions or eczema. Neither of which are terribly sexy affiliations. Perhaps to combat this and move into a slightly different market, E45 have launched several new body products called Silky Radiance, Touchably Smooth and Nourish & Restore. This last product is targeted at ‘mature’ skins and depressingly, I now fall into this category so I put it to the test.
It promises to nourish mature skin, so that in just 3 weeks skin feels softer and more supple, with a noticeable, healthy glow.
Made with: Nicotinamide, a form of Vitamin B3, has been proven to boost collagen production, Poly Hydroxy Acid (PHA) which delivers all the skin-smoothing and anti-ageing benefits of AHAs, without any of the irritation and Glycerin a natural moisture magnet. But as well as these useful additions, it’s 3rd ingredient is derived from paraffin and I try to avoid this in my skin care where possible.
The cream has a very light pleasant scent, absorbs quickly into the skin and does leave you feeling nourished. My dry shins were transformed, and after a couple of weeks use, my skin felt and looked great. At just £4.99 for 200ml this product is fantastic value for money, however, unless I was completely strapped for cash, I probably wouldn’t purchase it myself. It’s just personal preference but I like a more luxurious body cream, preferably organic and full of essential oils, so, whilst this product definitely delivers it promises, it just doesn’t light my fire.
My mum on the other hand, absolutely loves this cream and says it’s made a real difference to extremely dry areas such as knees and elbows. She also likes the fact that, like all E45 products, it’s especially formulated for people like her with sensitive skin. Which just goes to show that you can’t please all people all the time, but you can definitely please some people some of the time.
