New from Guerlain is Sun in the City – a sizeable, golden illuminating powder enhanced with mother-of-pearl for cheekbones, shoulders, decollete, or anywhere that the sun naturally hits the face and body. Guerlain are always right on the money with their vast range of bronzing powders and highlighters. They produce an accurately natural shade of tan, olivey-brown, sometimes with flecks of highlight, sometimes matte, but NEVER orangey or red. I have every shade in my kit, and the new Sun in the City is a welcome addition.
What’s more I love the imagery from the new campaign with the endlessly gorgeous Natalia Vodianova. How she manages to look like that after having had so many kids is one of life’s mysteries.
It’s a lovely shade of gold, subtle yet buildable, and has a silky, finely-milled texture. On my shoot today, it gave the model’s skin a gorgeous sheen without being too obvious and without any trace of glitter, rather a soft, metallic hue. One of the things I love about Guerlain bronzers and illuminators is the quantity of product you get for you money. It’s a big old palette, embossed with design like rippling fabric which doesn’t disappear after the first few sweeps of the brush.
And when I leave for Miami shortly, I’ll be testing the new Guerlain Terracotta SPF 15 Sun Cream with Tan Booster for brunettes so look out for that. Both products are available from Debenhams from March 11th for £43 and £28 respectively.
