You Are Not a Bad Person, Trust Me

you are not bad

The more I inquire, the more I can’t help but arrive at the understanding that all thought seems to arise out of a mysterious void.

We spend a lot of time judging ourselves harshly for thoughts that we had no role in summoning, but that inevitably create particular feeling states in reference to said uninvited thoughts.

If you are feeling angry or jealous or resentful, I invite you to consider that this does not render you a permanently, irreversibly angry, jealous or resentful person. Call off the war with yourself. It’s a feeling, it will pass. You are not ‘bad’.

I’m deeply moved when I consider I spent around 3 decades thinking I was bad person because I was experiencing painful emotional states. Opprobrium has no home here. I choose tenderness.
